| Trim ist Geschichte pur ! Kein Ort dieser
Größe hat so viel geschichtliche Zeugnisse zu bieten, darunter
die größte Burgruine des Landes, Trim Castle. Das ab 1172 erbaute
Kastell hatte ursprünglich zehn Türme an den Außenmauern,
von denen fünf erhalten sind, und zwei Tortürme, von denen noch
einer zu sehen ist.
Die Burg dient als Kulisse in Mel Gibson's Braveheart Kino Film - der Stadt York. Gegenüber auf der anderer Seite des Flusses ragt die auffälligste Erinnerung an Trim's große Tage, der Yellow Steeple, in den Himmel. Der Festungsturm entstand 1368 zum Schutz einer Augustinerabtei. |

| Trim is pure history ! No other town
of a similar size can offer so many historical witnesses, including Irelands
largest castle ruin - Trim Castle. The castle dates from 1172 and had originally
10 towers; five remain today, and two gate towers; one of which remains to
the present day.
The castle starred recently in Mel Gibson's Braveheart production - doubling as the city of York. On the opposite side of the river, the ruin of the Yellow Steeple rises majestically. The fortified bell tower belonged to a long gone Augustine Monastery. |
